Labtician LSO Silicone Oil™ has been fractionated to remove low molecular weight components, resulting in ultra-pure, ophthalmic-grade silicone oil. Short-chain molecules known to cause inflammation are removed through a special purification process. This fractionation eliminates the possibility of inflammation and reduces potential for emulsification, decreasing the need for premature removal of the silicone oil from the eye.
Silicone oil is a tamponade agent that holds the retina in place, preventing detachment of the neurosensory retina. The vitreous gel is removed and replaced with silicone oil, which presses the retina against the choroid and promotes reattachment. Once reattached, a second procedure can be performed to remove the oil.
Product specifications: specific gravity 0.97, suitable for superior breaks and retinal tears. Available in 1000 cP and 5000 cP, in 10 mL bottle or 10 mL syringe. Other Labtician LSO system components: LSO QuickSet™, LSO Extraction™ Kit.
