New Optical Solutions, in collaboration with LUMENIS, successfully presented the new innovative Optima IPL system at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, with the participation of many distinguished ophthalmologists. This system is presented as the next solution for the treatment of dry eye disease.
The speaker was Professor of Ophthalmology Dr Sergio Solarino, who also performed clinical applications on selected patients with significant dry eye problems.

**Do your patients suffer from dry eye?**
Dry eye disease (DED) is the most common condition ophthalmologists face. The disease has a significant impact on quality of life, with symptoms such as foreign body sensation, pain, blurred vision, dryness or watery eyes. Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a multifactorial disease and the leading cause of DED in more than 85% of patients. DED can significantly affect patient satisfaction after surgical procedures. Ophthalmic surgical procedures can cause DED or worsen existing DED, and ophthalmic surgeries in patients with existing DED are likely to have reduced effectiveness.
